Members:
India Pender, Kelly Peters, Katherine Lochiatto, Alex Lind, Simone Banna
Upcoming Plans:
• PR Workout
Get ready for PR Workout 2012
Does your student organization struggle with how to recruit new members? Does planning an event or fundraiser overwhelm you? Does it frustrate you to promote your club via social media?
Student organization leaders across campuses often struggle with these issues. However, UGA’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) can help. We invite your members to attend our third annual PR Workout, a student-led PR conference devoted to teaching campus organizations good PR strategies. The conference will be held Saturday, January. 28, on the first floor of the Tate Center. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m., and sessions run from 10 a.m. to noon.
At PR Workout you will attend 30-minute sessions on how to plan successful events, how to raise funds effectively, how to recruit new members, how to use social media, how to establish good media relations and how to understand campus legalities. PRSSA members will lead the sessions and discuss ways to implement these aspects of PR effectively to your organizations. Students who attend will receive a packet with handouts from each session so they can take the information back to their organizations.
At PR Workout, our guests will receive invaluable PR training, and our student speakers will gain great presentation experience. Our goal is that students leave PR Workout with stronger public relations skills that will strengthen their organization.
If you or your classmates or friends are involved in a campus organization, please consider attending PR Workout on January 28. The registration fee is $15 and the deadline is Wednesday, January 25. For more information or to register online, please visit our website at http://prworkout2012.wordpress.com/.
• "What is PR?" High School Presentation
Diversity committee has finished a prezi presentation for high schools entitled “What Is PR.” We are currently waiting to hear back from the two high schools in ACC county and the Athens Community Career Academy about coming to present in some of their marketing/graphics/communications classes about PR.
• Diversity Panel for PRSSA Meeting
